Management Responsibilities

Management at Ruislip Man and Van holds overall responsibility for implementing and maintaining this Health and Safety policy. Management will:

Ensure that vehicles, tools and equipment are properly maintained and suitable for their intended use.

Employee Responsibilities

All employees and contractors working on behalf of Ruislip Man and Van share responsibility for maintaining a safe working environment. Employees must:

Take reasonable care of their own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by their actions.

Follow all safety procedures, instructions and training provided by the company.

Use equipment, vehicles and personal protective equipment correctly and only for their intended purpose.

Report hazards, unsafe conditions, near misses, incidents and injuries to management as soon as practicable.

Cooperate fully with accident investigations, audits and risk assessments.

Customer Responsibilities

Ruislip Man and Van expects customers to support safe working practices. Customers are responsible for:

Ensuring clear and safe access to properties, including stairways, corridors, driveways and entrances.

Informing us in advance of any known hazards, such as restricted access, structural issues, loose flooring, low ceilings or hazardous materials.

Keeping children and pets away from work areas during loading and unloading operations.

Complying with any reasonable safety instructions given by our staff while work is in progress.

Risk Assessment and Safe Working Practices

Ruislip Man and Van will carry out risk assessments for key tasks associated with removal operations. These assessments will consider hazards such as manual handling, working in confined spaces, working at height, vehicle movements, adverse weather and site-specific conditions.

Findings of risk assessments will be used to develop and implement safe systems of work, including the use of appropriate equipment, staffing levels and safe routes for moving items. Where necessary, site-specific assessments will be conducted prior to or on the day of the move.

Manual Handling and Lifting
